In a first, MRIS held an official Graduation Dinner last week guided by Yr 6 teacher Laura Nicholls. Described as magical night, all agreed that the event should become a regular on the calendar. Former student, Waimana Helmbright was a special guest at the celebration. Students received Graduation Bears and a Graduation Book.

Surf groms: MRIS Surfing Program started last week under the guidance of MRIS Physical Education teacher, Sean Allen. The four week program with Josh Palamateer Surf School is being held at the River Mouth. Perfect weather ensured a great time was had by all with both beginners and advanced surfers honing their surfing skills.
MRIS students from Year 3 attend the Nature Conservation 2018 Bio Blitz recently. Along with other schools across the Shire, the students enjoyed a day of interactive sessions with deadly reptiles, rescued native fauna, presentations from Parks and Wildlife, an Indigenous cultural experience, and a cave tour with a focus on mega fauna.
